Description
The AD3000 is a low cost audio delay for lip sync correction
and other applications where audio signals need to be delayed, transcoded
or rate converted. The AD3000D has AES/EBU (balanced)
and SMPTE (unbalanced) digital inputs and outputs in addition to stereo
analog inputs and outputs. 20 bit linear PCM with 64x over-sampling on
the input, and 8x over-sampling on the output results in exceptional performance
specifications. The AD3000D is perfectly suited to systems
that are all digital, systems that are all analog and analog-to-digital/digital-to-analog
conversion in hybrid installations.
When used for automatic lip sync correction with compatible video frame
synchronizers, the AD3000's delay tracks the changing
video delay using a TTL control pulse from the video synchronizer. The
delay in the video can also be measured directly by the Pixel Instruments
DD3100 which then "steers" the AD3000. A fixed
offset delay can also be added to the varying delay. The AD3000
has the industries fastest rate of delay change, at a controlled rate
of up to 5% with the built-in pitch shifter minimizing audible pitch artifacts.
For installations that need to process two or more AES/EBU audio pairs,
AD3000 can be operated in parallel with excellent tracking.
The digital input can receive any sample rate from 25 kHz to 48 kHz, and
the output sample rate can be selected from 32 kHz, 44.056 kHz, 44.1 kHz,
or 48 kHz. The input and output sample rates can be independent. The sample
rate for the optional analog inputs is 48 kHz with 64x over sampling on
the input and 8x over sampling on the output.
The output sample rate can be derived from an internal crystal oscillator,
or can be frequency locked to an external video reference (NTSC or PAL)
for installations where it is important to synchronize the audio and video
sample rates to a common reference. If the input sample rate is 32 kHz,
44.056 kHz, 44.1 kHz, or 48 kHz, the output sample rate can instead be
frequency locked to the digital input signal while still maintaining independent
rates for the input and output. In automatic mode, with a 32 kHz, 44.056
kHz, 44.1 kHz, or 48 kHz input, the output sample rate is the same as
the input rate.
The front panel of the AD3000 includes an LCD mode/status
display for quick intuitive operator control, dual bar-graph audio level
display, and gain trim controls for the analog input and output. The RS232
control option allows remote control of AD3000 functions
via a dedicated remote control panel, or via Windows software running
on a PC.
